Service Description

Learning to throw on the wheel is so much fun especially when you are in a small group, where you gain encouragement and support from each other as you go through the learning curve that is throwing. Held on an evening over six weeks, you will not only get to know throwing but each other. With step by step support and tuition including demonstration of all key processes from wedging clay, to centre the clay, pulling, shaping and then trimming including foot rings. Throughout the course we will focus on basic shapes but by the end you can expect to have thrown a cup, plate, vase and have a selection to decorate and glaze, ready for display or for gifts to your friends and family! With a wide variety of commercial glazes, tools and resources it is a perfect set up for you to learn a a new school over the six weeks. Use the time to throw, turn, glaze in white stoneware. All materials and one piece firing allocation included per session is included. If you wish to fire more that is no problem and we can agree together a supplementary charge if needed. Firing can take a while and expect around four weeks to go through the kiln process to be ready for collection. Clay is messy, so please wear old clothes and bring your own apron. For further information regarding what you need to bring please ensure you read our sections on health and safety and studio use. As with all of our classes tea, coffee & biscuits are complimentary. It is the perfect way to have some you time and be in the moment with clay. If you cannot find a slot to suit in the calendar please call direct to discuss. Each session is 2.5 hours tuition, plus 30 minutes for finishing, glazing and clean up. To book the class you will need, to be over 15 years old. The class is in a maximum group size of 4. Course starts Tuesday 7th Jan and then runs on the 14th, 21st, 28th Jan, then the 4th and 11th Feb 7 - 10pm
